Australian Visas - Short Stay
Australian ETA Visas
Australia uses advanced technologies to The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is one of the most advanced visa systems in the world requiring no physical visa stamp. Tourist and business visas for those entering the country for short term visits are granted for an overall duration of 12 months and allow their holder to spend up to three months in Australia. The ETA visa is not available to all countries and where this is the case, or where applicants wish to spend longer than three months at a time in Australia the conventional long stay tourist visa is available. Australian Business Visas
The Australian business skills migration program is made up of a variety of Australian business visa services which may be state sponsored or non-state sponsored. In all cases the requirements for a state sponsored application are lower but in order to immigrate to Australia in this way an applicant must first obtain a sponsorship from the state or territory to which they will be relocating. The main business visa types are the Australian Business Owner Visa which focuses on a candidate's experience as a business owner and their personal assets, the Australian Business Senior Executive Visa which requires candidates to have significant experience in a senior management role and the Australian Business Investor Visa which assesses the candidate's ability to make a substantial investment in Australia.
Living and Working in Australia - Australian Work Visas
Australia also offers the points based Skilled Sponsor Visa which requires an applicant to be sponsored by an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident and the Employer Nomination Scheme which requires sponsorship from an Australian based company.
The Australian Skilled Independent Visa, which is used for general skilled migration to Australia uses a points based system to assess candidates on key areas such as their qualifications, occupation, experience and age. This Australian visa service requires candidates to nominate a profession that appears on Australia's Skilled Occupations List and successful applicants are granted a five year working visa with the opportunity to apply for Australian citizenship after four years.
Australian Work Permits - The 457 Visa
Australian Work Permits also known as the 457 visas allows an Australian company to find skilled migrants to fill specific roles within their company. Although a work permit for Australia is issued as a temporary visa service and is not transferable, applicants may be able to apply for a permanent work visa once in Australia subject to meeting the qualifying criteria.
Studying in Australia
The Australia immigration and visa authorities issues several classes of student visa, each of which applies to a particular group of students for example post-graduate students, vocational student and school students. Australian study visas are granted based upon the duration of the course and require students to remain with their sponsoring educational institution for at least 12 months and support themselves financially throughout their time in Australia.
Australian Family Visas
Australian citizens and permanent residents are allowed to sponsor their spouses and/or partners to join them in Australia through the spouse visa, De facto or fiancé visas and the sponsoring of other relatives is also possible through the contributory parent visa, Australian child visa or last remaining relative visa. In all cases, Australian family immigration services permit the applicant to obtain permanent residency in Australia, and ultimately to apply for Australian citizenship.
